I'm building a new system with the only HDD being a 120G SATA model, which I intend to partition into three logical drives then install Win98SE, Win XP, and Linux, in that order. However, Win98's FDisk would only recognise 48G of the HDD, so I set the drive size to 40G and continued with Setup. All went well until the message "Preparing to run Windows for the first time" appeared, at which point the PC would hang for a while then stop with a message like "Unable to combine VxD's into monolihic file" or "Unable to locate vmm32.vxd".
Am I expecting too much of Win98? Should I change the installation order to XP, Linux then Win98? |
