| 228382 | 2004-04-10 08:50:00 | hi ya, camera is going a long fine. have been using it heaps......and have saved and erased lots of pics, but what im wondering is how many hours approx would one get out of an average rechargeable battery? i have a set of 2300, and a set of 2100. mAb? i have been using flash and downloading off the same bats i first charged, so does that mean they good or i havent done enough work??? i have spares ready for tomorow. with continuos use, how long may i get out of them? a day of full time use? it says something in the book about amount of pics taken, so does this not mean if on and being used time? just pic frame time? and do they last for a set amount of charges ? or unlimited use? years? and is it best to have bats fully flat before recharging? sorry. beetle |

An hour would be more reasonable. > > i have a set of 2300, and a set of 2100. mAb? mAh (milliAmpere hour) > i have been using flash and downloading off the same > bats i first charged, so does that mean they good or > i havent done enough work??? i have spares ready for > tomorow. I use 2000 mAh and always start with a fresh charged set. I carry another charged set and a set of alkaline batteries. Never been caught yet. > with continuos use, how long may i get out of them? > a day of full time use? it says something in the > book about amount of pics taken, so does this not > mean if on and being used time? just pic frame > time? If you are not taking pics, I would expect the camera to turn off. On mine I have it set for 2 minutes. Therefore its picture taking time. I would expect an hour tops if not turning off. If turning off (recommended) then be guided by the manual as to the number of pictures. > > and do they last for a set amount of charges ? or > unlimited use? years? 1,000 charges is often quoted. Expect 2 or 3 years within this charge number. > and is it best to have bats fully flat before > recharging? Technically yes, its recommended but that means inconvenience to me. I still get very good life by reharging before they are flat, and do not suffer the inconvenience of flat batteries. After all the batteries are not that expensive these days. > sorry. Don't be. These are very good questions. |

| 228384 | 2004-04-10 19:48:00 | Thanxs Goddie, i have 2 sets ready charged, and am all set to go, just got to clean first . . . . . every one else has gone, and it's not raining so that has to be good . i ran a set of batterires out last night and worked out once the red bat light / icon shows up i have approx 5 -10 mins to get my act together or camera shuts down . . . . . (this is mucking about using flash /testing settings etc) i worked out that i should be able to fill my mem card and still have bat life left, as long as i look after the usage, turn off, less flash (if at all) and you eye not lcd screen . so am pleased so far with cam and bats handle better than i expected . and the shots i have taken up till now have actually blown me away sometimes on how good they are, and LOL the ones that arnt noone else see s them, due to a little product called erase . . . . . thanxs for all your help Goddie . hope your Easter is going well . and as long as i dont fall flat on my face in the mud, ill should get some great pics . . . . . . beetle |

| 228385 | 2004-04-10 22:16:00 | There is a little known law for battery charge in digital cameras. It goes like this: P = d*i/(n+1) Where: p = power remaining in the battery d = distance from extra batteries in metres i = importance of the photo you are trying to take n = the number of charged batteries you have with you. As you mathematically inclined people will see, this holds for most values of d, i, and n. Keep taking those pics, beetle. robo. |

| 228386 | 2004-04-10 22:53:00 | My digital camera has an lcd display and also a viewfinder . From my understanding, you get better battery usage if you use the viewfinder rather than the lcd display (if you have one of course :D) I presume the batteries are a Lithium type . They are better than the traditional NiCd type batteries and don't tend to suffer "memory" problems like NiCd i . e . you don't have to discharge them before recharging them . Happy snapping . |

Beetle is using NiMh type, as LiIon rechargeables in AA size are rare . |

| 228389 | 2004-04-11 07:05:00 | >>Beetle has already made that point ("and you eye not lcd screen") Missed that... I can't for the life of me think why :p Well my camera has a Lithium Ion battery... and I didn't notice any reference to the construction of the batteries used (see 1st point). |

| 228390 | 2004-04-11 09:25:00 | hi ya people.... :8} we all can guess what i meant by that silly quote every one has spotted and made use of now cant we?? Duh. after a very tiring day, i have some excellent photos and i have some shockers, due to clod and tiredness. i am pleased with the photos i have done. even the shockers, i learnt by my mistakes. a few settings i found difficult to set and stay, and had a bad case of camera shake when i got cold. and i mean frozen, shaking. the batteries did well, found used both LCD and eye veiwer..... did turn cam off lots but found i needed it constantly at ready, (this function not as good as my old camera). the standby mode i mean.) i wish i had more time out there, but work comes first, could have taken lots more. pleased all round, had a good rain free day, and work called, so came home early..... sigh. back to the grindstone and to thaw out in front of heater...... Thanxs all, and Goddie just for once id like to not have a mistake so you can jump on the wording or spelling. :p Nobody's perfect, may be bloody close, but lifes not meant to be boring. beetle |
