228363 2004-04-10 07:08:00 Hey Ya'll,

I just building my new computer. Specs are as follows:

AMD XP 2800+
512 MB DDR 333
ASUS A7V600 Mobo
Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM
Golden Field 6127 case.

My problem is that the CPU is running a the speed of a 2000+ (1666mhz 133FSB) any increase of the multiplier or FSB crashes the system. I purchased a 2800+ so I want the speed that I paid for. XP recognises the processor as a 2800+.

Any ideas on how I can get my CPU to run at the proper speed of the 2800+ (2250mhz)?

-=Tom=-
I'm using the stock cooler that came with the processor.

228366 2004-04-10 09:34:00 check what speed the ram is being run at. see if its set to run at 333mhz or the same as fsb. if its running the same as fsb set it to 333 and see if the crashes come back.

how long does it take to crash and what programs are running at the time ?

what temps is the cpu? and case?

Ram is on auto.

About 10 minutes with Outlook 2002 running.

Asus PC Probe says:

CPU : 39C
Motherboard : 29C

Not exceptionally high, the max for the CPU I think is 70C.

I'm gonna restart now and set the RAM to 333.

228368 2004-04-10 10:53:00 Boy do I feel like an idiot,

I though the CPU was a Throughbred core (runs at 2250mhz). I actually have the Barton core (runs at 2083mhz) silly me.

I have an old monitor, it draws power from the PSU. I swicthed if with one that draws it's own power and the system seems a lot more stable.
