228152 2004-04-08 21:16:00 Ok so when I started, my line speed was always atleas 6.9 Mbps (often 7.4Mbps).... and that lasted about a year. Few days ago, it drops to 5.1Mbps, which is a big, disappointing shock. I have to accept this I guess, as it is near the minimum stated by the Jetstream site, but then this morning, it's 2.6 Mbps!!

What's going on?!

High and steady for a year and then putt putt?

228153 2004-04-08 22:15:00 could be heaps of reasons from isp, fault in phone lines or a problem in your pc. tweak'e (174)
228154 2004-04-09 00:48:00 From what I understand telecom is upgrading the DSLAMS and the new ones are having a few problems with there defualt settings when it comes to certain brands of DSL chipsets.

Check that you are using G.DMT and are not using UCR.

If possiable also check you are using the latest firmware / driver for your router / modem.

Won't be the ISP, or the PC.

The estimated line 'speed' values being quoted are only determined between the modem and the connecting DSLAM.

228156 2004-04-09 10:59:00 Probably a line problem,but if you are on jetstart,or 256K package,it won't make any difference to you

228157 2004-04-09 15:16:00 I have to agree: it must be the DSLAMS.

I have the latest firmware. I don't there's anything wrong with the line as such, but even now the speed is a pitiful 2.4 Mbps. Thanks for the replies!

I am indeed on the 256k Service, but I think that the line speed is directly related to the size of my ego...
