Hi, happy easter. I have just installed Xp Home SP1a as mentioned in my last topic. Now Xp keeps coming up with error reports stating that windows has had signifcant error (can't recall exact words) and wants to send a report, I do this and the web page (?crash report page) that follows states that it cannot read my disk and that it is possibly an disk error. Often but not always as it is booting up it comes up "boot disk error put in system disk". This computer is <3 years old, is the disk drive failing? Do I need a new one? It had '98 on it before and was showing different program errors. Motherboard is an Asus csui-m with 10g hard drive and 512mb memory which is new. Under device manager there appaers to be no conflicts. I've also had a blue screen come up stating that it could be a software/ driver conflict, but it hasn't worked well from the beginning. Critical updates are up to date, Avg and ad-aware are installed and up to date |

it could be hard drive dying. to be sure, go into my computer, right click the drive and go into properties. under tools, select "check this drive for errors" and when the checker comes up, click start.
also check if there are driver updates, older ones may not like xp |
