228683 2004-04-11 18:23:00 Just bought a new Pentium 4cpu3000 with 1024 GB ram + 120GB hard drive using WXP HomeV2002 and all my troubles start.
My Phillips 107E5 (GS4) on Radeon 9200 (128mb ram) has a screen resolution of 1280x1024 using 32bit colour.
Every time I restart or awake from hibernate my color trips out to 8 bit and looks like its in SAFEmode

Any suggestions as to whats causing this and how to stop it?

Can you confirm that it happens when you turn on the machine/restart it? Or does it only happen when coming out of hibernation?

Some computers don't like to hibernate (I don't know whether its video card, cpu, motherboard, or something completely different), so an idea might be to turn off hibernation and see if that makes a difference.

However if it doesn't only happen after hibernation, then we'll have to look at other possibilities.

Mike.

No, it definitely trips out on both shutdown and hibernate. I prefer hibernate because I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so need to save batteries, but would use shutdown if that fixed it, but it doesnt.
Suggestions thanks?
