228678 2004-04-11 13:01:00 Heya.

Sorta common problem so may already be a solution listed....

Cd roms. Buzz buzz. 90% of the time I stick a cdrom in the computer and it starts buzzing away. New Cdburner of course so it's not that or anything. Just wondering if theres anyway to stop the cddriver from reading the cd or whatever it's doing so hardout thats buzzing along.

Also, does anyone know of those virtual drives so I dont have to stick the cd rom in everytime I want to play a game for example? Save the dam buzz noise.

228679 2004-04-11 13:23:00 I think your stuck with the noise.

As for the Virtual CD Drive, have a look here (http://www.circleofone.com/) but it is for win2000 or XP only as I understand it.

228680 2004-04-11 13:50:00 You can reduce the speed of your drive, and the timout before it spins down.

If you have nero it should have installed an app called "Drivespeed" that will do it. For games like vice city that need the cd all the time I have my drive set to 12x which is almost silent.

saves wear and tear and improves game performance.

I'm testing out the virtual cd drive option now.
