228451 2004-04-10 12:32:00 I have the latest edition of Kazaa but when I download music files all I get is a few seconds of the song and then static. Does anyone know why this is happening? tans71 (5506)
228452 2004-04-10 12:56:00 Yep, thats the big music companies flooding the network with corrupt songs. Its done as sort of an active form of anti-piracy campaigning. Kazaa will get you nowhere nowdays... its probably best if you change to another p2p client.

I reccomend WinMX (http://www.winmx.com)

228455 2004-04-10 22:43:00 When you choose a song from the search results, don't choose one that lots of people have. Also limit your downloads to say 3 per song.

That will minimise the chance of also downloading a 'booby-trapped' file masquerading as the song.

That's worked for me lately, particularly with the new release material, the 'oldies' are generally unaffected.

228456 2004-04-11 00:06:00 Kazaa Lite has a clever filter that can detect and reject bogus songs about 99% of the time Greg S (201)

228458 2004-04-11 01:12:00 get kazza lite k++ (don'ttry searching google for it) altho it'll be very hard to get hold of . . . even if you find the stuff you want, some stoopid little 12 year old has probably labeled it wrongly deliberately to piss you off .

I reccommend DC++ ( . sourceforge . net/) and get on the new zealand hubs from the list here (http://www . dc . nzgames . co . nz/hublist . php" target="_blank">dcplusplus . sourceforge . net/) and get on the new zealand hubs from the list here (http:) and whabam!

You're set . . .

All the stuff is labeled correctly cos its a tighter community and you get dissed if you share wrongly labeled stuff .

Also its not as vulnersable as kazaa . The RIAA can shut down the Fasttrack network (kazaa) and stop the use of kazaa, but with DC, u and I can start our own hubs . Also the DC client is opensource and there are multiple clients of it, so if one client gets a court order against its use, someone else can come along, take the source, and make a different one .

Happy Sharing:D

F**K the RIAA . . . Sharing is caring . . . .

P . S . this is illegal . . . .

228459 2004-04-11 02:00:00 I hate Kazaa. I love Kazaalite K++. Well, atleast I DID.

I tried downloading atleast 10 songs, and all of them, because the huge amount of mislabelling and Kazaa thinking that files with 1 MB difference (in size) are the same, are corrupted. So, I now hate the Kazaa network. Yes, hate is a strong word.

Luckily, I have the name of the kazaalite installer, so all you have to do is search the net for that file and there'll be an /index of site ready to server you. If you want it, email me!

Warez (built on Ares) is amazing, but very limited. I recommend, the best of all, overnet! I found files there I've been wanting for ages, and Couldnt dream of finding on kazaa... But there are downsides: 1) You need a core. I had to install linux to get a core to work! 2) You need to be cool with the fact that you will (especially at the beginning) be uploading constantly, because everything you are downloading is automatically being uploaded and you (as far as I tried) cannot stop it. I ended uploading uploading about 700MB to get a 320MB file... 3) The speeds sometimes get aggrevatingly slow. And when you're watching your upload speed constantly much higher, you tend to fray some nerves.

I wasn't told that sharing files was illegal.......

228460 2004-04-11 02:56:00 ok i think the question has been answered so lets just leave this "border line" thread before the man himself come and locks it.

we all know the rules about subject matter and me thinks that this is pushing the line.
