228854 2004-04-12 09:01:00 Hi, This sounds like an easy silly clutzs type of problem - but its still got me beat.

Our computer wants dials the internet after about seven minutes all the time.

Now I've told the computer to never dial under internet connections and in zone alarm removed internet access from all but outlook and ie.

It all started after I downloaded webshots for xp, now our system is possessed.

228855 2004-04-12 10:11:00 I'm not familiar with this "webshots" thing, but possibly Webshots is set to check for updates or something similar. See if you can find a setting in that program or any other program you have running that might be looking for updates or new content or similar. If you can turn it off, try it and see if there's any difference.

Mike.

228856 2004-04-12 10:34:00 I believe websots replaces the desktop background every few (7?) minutes with another shot from their database, stored on all places on the internet(shock, horrer)

Its got a bad rep for slowing down machines, making them unstable and of course dialing up the internet.

run spy-bot,and possibley read the FAQ on spyware and adware.
