Good on you. I would do the same. I don't use My Documents, and I suppose have a system similar to Susan B. Instead of a partitioned drive I have two drives - one for programs and one for data. That way I can see and manage my data files very easily. I can also backup data files to the C drive, and backup System State files to the D drive.

Good luck!

I found a useful bit of info (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) for when you are always installing programs to another directory other than "C:\Frogram Files".

Easy way to manage XP is to find some useful registry hacks and change the default locations for saving files (Banish that My Documents crap).

I've used TweakUI to make my own folder locations in the save/open dialogue menu. One click gets you right there.

228901 2004-04-13 08:32:00 I agree with the others Robo... I simply relocated my docs, killed all the other shortcuts (my pics etc) and created any other storage folders on my Data drive Greg S (201)

228903 2004-04-13 12:47:00 I will help there as all my data is on E: OS and related on C: all programs on D: and MY FILES on E: mikebartnz (21)
228904 2004-04-13 21:56:00 Yes, Susan, am very outnumbered. I thought I was being stupid by fighting it as long as I did, but I see I was not alone then (but feel like I am now).
I think part of the reason I changed was that I figured I had to get used to it to be consistent with everybody else. I do approve of standards on PCs and sometimes that means being consistent with a stupid standard I suppose.
I don't think my wife could handle the non-standard approach and she is a major user of the house PC (nobody touches my work PC).
I'm just a sad lemming, anyone know where a cliff is around here? <sniff>
