229193 2004-04-14 05:06:00 Anyone any experience of registering com.au domain names. It appears you can only register a com.au domain if you have a Australian registered business? Anyone. Dolby Digital (160)
229194 2004-04-14 08:41:00 From here:

.com.au
Note the policy for this domain is changing on 1 July 2002. For details of the new 2LD policy, please see auDA Domain Name Eligibility and Allocation Policy Rules for Open 2LDs

The management/oversight of the .com.au subdomain is undertaken by .au Domain Administration with day to day operations (like registering and delegating domain names) carried out by the com.au registrar, Internet Names World Wide (a division of Melbourne IT Ltd ACN 073 716 793) (help@ina.com.au).

The policies of this domain are maintained at http://www.ina.com.au. In general only commercial entities may register a com.au name, and the domain name must reflect the organisation's name.

There is a charge for registering com.au domains.

It also says further down the page that the .org.au domains are typically for organisations that don't fit under any of the other categories.
