| 229441 | 2004-04-15 09:35:00 | I have an EpsonStylus Color 400 printer. It was working good then I got the message "Error while spooling to "" Unable to start the spool manager. I am using Windows 98. I have reinstalled the printer but still get the same message. I cannot even print out the test page. What can I do to fix this or should I really get a serviceman to call and fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Glorybee |

| 229442 | 2004-04-15 09:57:00 | Hi Glorybee, and welcome to PressF1, It sounds like your problem is a corrupted or damaged Spool within Windows. Spool is a program which collects everything you send to the printer, so you can continue working on whatever program you were using, while it sorts out what to send to the printer. I would suggest that you try disabling the spooling function (within the Printer preferences), and see if it helps. Otherwise you might have to reinstall windows. |

| 229443 | 2004-04-23 12:34:00 | Somebody - thankyou for your suggestion. I have finally been able to locate Spool Manager and have set it to print direct to the printer. I was able to print the test page without any bother but when I tried to print anything else either from word or from an email I was right back to where I started and getting the same message. Is there an explanation as to why this happened? Help Gloria |

| 229444 | 2004-04-23 13:37:00 | This info was found on www.uktsupport.co.uk If you see conflict error messages or printing is very slow, the problem may be caused by temporary files in the EPSON Spool Manager temporary file directory. To change the Spool Manager settings, you will first need to make a unique directory on your hard drive, such as C:\SPOOL. Open the Spool Manager4 and make sure the EPSON Stylus COLOR 400 is selected. Click on Options, select Default Spool Directory. Change the directory to the new directory you created and click OK. Open the Queue, Setup and make sure the spool directory changed to the new unique directory. Make sure the box for "Use Print Manager for this port" is not checked, then click OK. Close the Spool Manager, restart the computer and try printing again. [/b] Rob ;\ |
