229311 2004-04-14 21:00:00 Have just connected a laptop with a PCMCIA wireless card. Loaded software OK. Powered up the wireless hub/router (has DHCP). Software on laptop detects network 100% strength. (they're right next to each other)
Problem: when I ping the hub I getmany lost packets.
I have tried moving the hub away with worse results. Also have assigned wireless card an IP address (not using DHCP) with no change in results.
I have turned off all equiptment in building including fluro lights and cordless phones. And I thought these things worked reasonably well.

229312 2004-04-15 05:10:00 What brands / models are the wireless router and PC card? Are they both "WiFi" certified? There are certainly compatibility issues with some wireless gear. wuppo (41)
229313 2004-04-15 05:37:00 Fitted the gear into another laptop running WinXP (was Win2k) and everything started and worked fine.
Could have a problem with PCMCIA socket in other laptop but doesn't matter now

Thanks anyway
