| 229623 | 2004-04-16 05:47:00 | Just dreaming (maybe) But do the Prescott P4 chips with 1Mb L2 Cache ALSO include HyperThreading ? (Dual channel or whatever ...) And what is the "best" match of 'speed' for RAM when optimising RAM speed to bus speed ? (FSB 800MHz with RAM at PC3200 or ???) Better still - as this type of question has probably already been dealt with , can someone advise me the link to that thread, please. Thanks Woof |

| 229624 | 2004-04-16 14:33:00 | as far as i know, prescott P4 2.8E 1MB L2 cache is with HYPERTHREADING and yes it has to be with in-line with memory for the optimum performance which means, well, would recommend to use DDR400 or higher (PC3200,....) check it out :) | sharvil_nz (5529) | ||
| 229625 | 2004-04-16 21:56:00 | According to Intel Prescott has "better" hyperthreading compared to the older Northwood core. If you are considering buying a P4 the northwood core is faster than prescott even with only half the lvl2 cache. Its also worth considering that intel is releasing a new socket very soon, along with new chipsets and shifting from DDR to DDR2. It not really a very good time to be upgrading at the moment as AMD is also changing sockets. Socket A is obsolete, and socket 754 will soon become obsolete aswell with the arival of socket 939. | Pete O'Neil (250) | ||
