2004-04-16 06:10:00 | Is there any way that I can mount my NTFS partition in Windows 98? Any software that can do that? | plzhelpmenow (5507) | |
2004-04-16 06:20:00 | Don't think so, W98 doesn't recognise NTFS (New technology File System) files. It is strictly an NT/W2K/XP format. Of course, i could be wrong. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2004-04-16 08:21:00 | here is a read-only driver. you need to pay for the read/write version. (Note you need some system files from Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 to make it work) www.sysinternals.com

2004-04-16 08:40:00 | I would be pretty suspicious of the write support though, as the NTFS standard does change a lot with regard to writing (hence why writing to it with other OS's is so problematic). Potentially mapping it as a network drive might be an idea?

2004-04-16 08:44:00 | I bought the full version and used to use it when I had a multiboot and it worked perfectly. Apparently it loads Windows NT's driver to be used in Windows 98, so it reads and writes precisely as Windows NT does. It does not read encrypted stuff though. | pmchapman (2942) | |
2004-04-16 09:24:00 | I saw on trademe some time ago, Windows 98 with NTFS support. It was not an official, the guy just converted them or something, then sold the cd's | mejobloggs (264) | |
2004-04-16 09:25:00 | As pmchapman said, the tool from SysInternals is safe, because it actually uses the drivers from NT/2000/XP systems. What it effectively does is put an interface for Windows 9X around the NTFS driver. | agent (30) | |
