230313 2004-04-18 08:53:00 Welcome to PF1.

Integrated video chipsets usually do not usually have Video In capabilities unfortunately.

Video capture software is usually supplied with capture cards.
Capture facilities are available on TV Cards, some upper end models of Video Cards and as stand alone Capture Cards. Also available are USB adapters.

Dick Smith have these available as an example, from $87 to $161 or more. Catalogue XH3371, XH6594 or XH6766.

You local PC store may also be able to assist.

230314 2004-04-19 06:20:00 Buy the Dick Smith TV tuner card ($76) rather than the AVER video capture card ($87). I tried the later and it wouldn't work with either of my motherboards (it's allergic to Via chipsets). The TV tuner cards is excellent. I now have 2 of them in different machines. It comes with remote, aerial (Cheap and nasty single "rabbit ear" - works fine for Prime, TV3 and 4 in Hamilton anyway) and also receives FM radio. All the software you need to capture and process tv to dvd or vcd comes with the card. I reckon its great value and it works a treat. Takes a bit of time to process the video (probably CPU dependent - I only have a 2.4 P4, 512 mb Ram so a newer pc could be quicker). XP with a large NTFS formatted hard drive is also a good idea as FAT 32 disks only handle a maximum 4 gig file size and the captured video can exceed this if you are recording higher quality or longer times. andy (473)
