230095 2004-04-17 12:04:00 I have read it is good idea to have (say a) Hotmail account to leave on websites and to issue (say) your xtra address to known and trusted parties eg friends and work associates.

Does this mean that you need to clear both separately in order to preserve the advantages of have an hotmail account or can I clear both addresses from Outlook.

Please advise best practice.

230096 2004-04-17 12:43:00 It is a very good idea to have a hotmail account to use on websites when they require an email address from you. This should help towards preventing spam being directed at your ISP email address.

I am not sure what you mean by clearing the accounts, you mean download the messages? You can configure Outlook to download emails from your hotmail account and to sent out emails from that account as well. Instructions on doing this can be found here (support.microsoft.com) - check to make sure your Outlook version is ones of the ones listed in the article.

If you use Outlook 2000, have a read of this article (support.microsoft.com).
