230666 2004-04-20 04:32:00 Hi,

have since set up woosh, and am enjoying it, however I have a few questions:

1) what is the PPP settings? Everynow and then I get disconnected, and then try to reconnect but it won't due to the 'PPP settings' (I cannot remember the exact words used in the error message) .

I usually solve this problem by uninstalling Woosh, and reinstalling it . . . leaving the computer off for a few hours and then its back to normal . How do I avoid from having to do this in the future (if it happens again)?

2) Someone mentioned to me I should have a firewall . Which one should I get? Preferrably one thats easy to use, and hides in the background . I had a problem with ZoneAlarm before, popping up at everything I did .

cheers,
caffy

The reason why it does that, is because it is learning what programs etc . . . You have on your computer & what programs/etc . . . You want to let access the Internet, once you train it, then it is a Good firewall .

If you need help with ZoneAlarm Just back here & I & other people can help you with it :)

Well your connected by the ethernet cable then?

Well woosh is unreliable as anything. I'd invest in a good router for woosh, they work more reliably than the usb or ethernet cable.

I'm always swearing about useless woosh is. Always crashing, always going at slow speed. Terrible latency.

Yesterday and today it was going at half speed (120k) and I ring them up today and complain of the half speed. We're running an online business here and need the full speed, not some pathetic 600ping, 120k speed.

Anyway, I say we're going to jetstream tomorow if it aint fixed. (This same thing happened about a month ago and went on for a whole week). Then they get me to do a speedtest on usb and oh amazing its going at 400k!

They sit there and control the speed because with woosh u can increase your speed with a mouse click and they can obviously do it remotely as well, because they increased my speed to 350k.

So when i started complaining they just increased the speed and are like, "what are you complaining about, must be your router at fault".

So then I say thanks, hangup, plug everything back into my router and anyway, im back at normal speed now. And previously I had reset the router/modem dozens of times and it was still at half speed

They obviously just sit there and drop certain people off to half speed, and then if they complain, put them back up to full speed. X-( However last time I was ringing them up everyday for a week and I think the keywords to use are "if you don't fix it, I'm switching over to jetstream tomorrow". Bamm! Full speed again.

Roooaaar!! Almost as bad as Telecom and their faulty usage meter.
