230721 2004-04-20 08:53:00 You shouldn't have any problems burning it on DVD so I'm wondering why two GB is to big for the media?

If it's CDR then it depends on how many CDs you want to end up with. I find that the maximum number of CDs I'm willing to put up with for each file is two. That gives me a total file size of about 1.2GB - 1.3GB which I then split and burn. As SVCD I find the quality/sound is good ... well, good enough.

230722 2004-04-20 10:29:00 Hi I can burn it to DVD but if I'm making a DVD to play on my TV's DVD player it seems a 4.7 disk doesn't have the room. kiwitwat (4646)

Could I ask how you did that, and how long did it take?

230724 2004-04-20 23:26:00 Hi
I do not know all the tech terms but I connected the audio out of the VCR to the mic in on my computer. Using an adaptor I pluged the video out on the VCR to the many pronged hole ('S' or composite hole?) on my video card. I used ulead video studeo 7 to capture both audio and video together. I got the adaptors from dick smith.

230725 2004-04-20 23:27:00 Takes as long as the VCR video runs kiwitwat (4646)
230726 2004-04-21 00:05:00 Sorry about all the questions, but what video card have you got? karent (5222)
230727 2004-04-21 00:14:00 He has a video card with Video-in,many are available but they are more expensive then the base models.

Personally i use a tv capture card as then i can keep the ability to capture vhs even when i have changed video cards.

Are you sure you have it set to DVD within Nero, svcd and vcd are cd formats so you can't use those to author a dvd.The files need to be broken encoded into audio_vob and video_vob in order to auther a working DVD.Nero by default is unable to do this(i think).

What you may need is specif dvd authoering software,Sonic DVD ships with quite a few dvd drives, ulead has a number of programs that do it,working time limited demo's of ulead programs are available.
