230648 2004-04-20 03:12:00 With my old c-media 4 channel sound card the mixer program would allow you to assign a key combo to bring up the mixer (very handy when running full screen apps) since installing a new "soundblaster live 5.1" card yesterday I have noticed that there is no such option. Is there any sort of replacement program I canuse as this was something I used often

230649 2004-04-20 07:58:00 you probably wont like this, but i say get a 5.1 C-Media, as the C-media mixer program (i have it myself) seems to only work with C-media cards.

i have a 5.1/ 6ch card from dicksmith and the mixer program it has comes with the option for a mixer show/hide hotkey.

you can get cheap C-media cards just about everywhere now.

So have I... I replaced the onboard sound with it.

Have you been able to enable the microphone boost on it? The advanced setting for Mic is greyed out :( I currently use on-board for Mic (has Mic Boost) and C Media for spekers - defeats the purpose of a stand-alone card somewhat!

230651 2004-04-20 09:52:00 the mic boost on mine is fine. if you got yours from dicksmith, i suggest you update the drivers as the ones that come with the card have sort of problem where it thinks the card has only 3 speaker jacks and wont let you use half of them as it thinks that subwoofer/centre speaker are plugged into the mic port. (or something insane like that) you can get the updates from www.cmedia.com.tw . also update the audiorack app if your using it. then it should work. (setting it to 2 speaker mode may also allow the mic jack to become available). agent_24 (4330)
230652 2004-04-20 10:29:00 Thanks for the advice, my card is a CMI8738 C Media from DSE.

I downloaded those files and installed them, but there is still no option for advanced settings under microphone.

Here's a screenshot (sal.neoburn.net).

I use Win 98, and as long as there is a shortcut icon on the desktop I can assign a shortcut key combo to open it . If the icon on the desktop is not a shortcut one, right click it and choose create shortcut . That will produce the required shortcut icon .

Right click the shorcut icon on the desktop, choose properties and create your chosen keystroke combination, (such as Ctr+Alt+V, or Ctr+Shift+M, etc) where it says shorcut key .

230654 2004-04-20 12:14:00 i think you are running the wrong program . have you tried running "mixer . exe" that comes with the C-media? just go start, run, and type mixer . it should load with an app that looks like this: . trust . com/_images/customercare/c-media-mixer-98 . gif" target="_blank">www . trust . com

then you click on the button bottom left (hammer and pliers)

and it brings you to a windows asking you how many speakers you want . click on the options tab, and you get this:

. cmedia . com . tw/images/faq/mixer/mixer_ad_option . gif" target="_blank">www . cmedia . com . tw

hopefully this works for you .
