| 230916 | 2004-04-21 06:29:00 | The description "rockwell hcf 56k data fax pci modem" is far too broad. That describes the chipset that the modem maker used, but not the implementation of it by the modem maker. It could be one of several hundred different modems. You need to look at the actual modem, and note any makers names or even the Telecom PTC number on any sticker. Those can narrow it down somewhat. |

One is, the noise does not go away once connected and another is it reports the 115Kb/s all the time, no matter what speed you connect at. So , it is essential to know the manufacturer , and hence get the correct drivers.. | Pheonix (280) | ||

| 230920 | 2004-04-21 23:48:00 | Hello When i formattted my friend's computer.(windows 98se) the cd i used to format was the hewlett packard cd.It formatted and installed everything back on including the modem. But the modem logs on to the net for couple of mins sometimes one hour. After a period of time The connection transmission stop and disconnects. I got an external modem from my house and bought it over. The computer detected the modem and I installed the modem driver for it using the cd i got when i first purchased the modem. However the computer keeps saying there's no dialtone.Everything is plugged in correct. There's no call waiting or call minder in nz. I just don't understand why it won't dial using the external modem. Under the connection setting I did tell it to dial using the external modem and not the internal modem. Does anybody know why? I think her modem is quite old. When i went to modem properties in control panel it says rockwell hcf 56k pci fax modem. If she was to buy a new modem.I think it will be an internal modem because her computer fails to dial using my external modem.is there something i forgotten to do?Why won't it dial using the external modem? Even though that i set the external modem to dial I think the computer still tries to dial using the internal modem. How do i disable it? |
