| 230825 | 2004-04-20 19:54:00 | Hi all, I got a popup message telling me that my machine is increasing the size of the Virtual memory on my machine. XP home. Could someone inform me as to why this would be please, as it is something I know nothing about, but now, would like to know something about it. No gaming, and very little surfing is done on my machine. Cheers DD. |

| 230826 | 2004-04-20 20:10:00 | Virtual memory A reserved space on your hard drive which is used as overflow area for ram when the machine runs out of ram it writes those machine instructions to hard disk or vrtual memory, it is nothing to worry about linux even does this thus the reason fro the swap partion. XP is good at managing virtual memory so I find it is best to leave those settings alone in that oshowever in 98 amd me i do tweak them but be carefull tweaking them wrong can mean a safe boot to fix. more information can be obtained from google |
