230790 2004-04-20 14:52:00 Hello,
How do I delete an entry from the
"Open with" dialog box?

I'm running Win'98 SE O/S.

Thank you,

Adock.

230791 2004-04-21 03:52:00 Can't test for Windows 98, but the following is for Windows 2000/XP
It involves Registry editing, so all normal precautions and warnings apply.

(Backup - backup - backup!)

1. Use Regedit to navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\ <.extention> \OpenWithList.

2. Each entry uses a value name that is a letter, as in a, and a data string which is the program that opened the file, like Notepad.exe. Locate the program that you wish to delete and record the value name. Delete this value name.

3. Edit the MRUList value name and remove the letter of the option that that you deleted.
