| 230784 | 2004-04-21 12:55:00 | Thanks for all the replies so far. Pheonix, when tried to boot from the altered boot disk I got an error "Dynamic Disk Overlay has failed to load" or something along those lines. |

It has its own bios on the card, and being newer will recognise bigger drives. It just takes a tad longer to boot as there are now two bios procedures to go through. The big advantage is that it gives you a lot more IDE connectors so you can have a multiplicity of hard drives or CDROM/DVD etc. |

It's not very good for an important operation like bios flashing. I wouldnt do anything unless you are absolutely sure you have the correct bios .bin flash file for your motherboard. If you pause the boot screen with the pause button when the bios information appears at the bottom of your screen, (they tell you to wirte down the info on the thrid line :) ) you can get the details of your current bios. The manufacturers site may well have an archived list of the bios updates that have been available hopefully you will see yours and also any udates subsequent to your existing one. |

| 230788 | 2004-04-22 11:57:00 | I searched around a few sites and got some more info. Poked the disk in, crossed my fingers and held my breath. I came out the other side a bit blue but with an updated BIOS and a HD being reported the correct size. Thanks for the help. |
