| 1360444 | 2013-11-21 03:28:00 | Hey im reinstalling windows on my machine to get raid setup between my main 1tb hd and my 60gb SSD in order to use SRT. However when installing winows 7 it wont recognise tem setup in raid but will in AHCI. Im assuming its a driver thing, if so then how do i go about getting the drivers on it? | Slankydudl (16687) | ||

Is it worth the effort , or just another gimmicy tech ?? Would it not be better, & easier to just put the OS on the SSD & be done with it ?? | 1360447 | 2013-11-21 22:25:00 | What speedy said, get the latest raid drivers for your motherboard from the manufacturers website and put them onto a flash drive or something you can access during setup, when windows setup Disk is booting there is a menu that displays at the bottom that tells you to push a key to install raid drivers. I was tempted by it myself but it's not supported by my motherboard so I got a bigger SSD instead. Another option is one of the seagate hybrid drives with the SSD built in. By all accounts it works really well if you can get it going. |

| 1360451 | 2013-11-22 03:56:00 | I would read the mobo manual and check what ports these things have to be plugged into. Some maybe specifically for RAID And dont some BIOS''s let you build the RAID, then setup will see them?? What RAID are you trying / going to use? |

So i suspect that the SSD was already setup as a cache drive for the other one and this was making the installer herp. however after installing windows 7 regularly (no raid) i have found that the SSD holds the system reserve file and I cant use it. Anyone know how to fix that. I gave up on trying to get the raid to work as i sorta needed a computer asap. | Slankydudl (16687) | ||
| 1360453 | 2013-11-22 05:08:00 | Disconnect the SSD, set the RAID and install windows, then add the SSD later. Assuming you can get past the no HDD problem. Speedy he's not actually trying to use RAID, it's a requirement for intels SRT to set the controller in RAID mode. |
