1360379 2013-11-20 21:47:00 Has the RAM to be matched with the Qualified Vendors List (QVL) of the Motherboard?

Is that critical and has to be followed strictly?

1360381 2013-11-20 22:30:00 For the most part as long as the ram meets the specifications of the motherboard (ie 240 pin) and can operate within the frequency range and below the maximum voltage specified by the motherboard it should work (99.9% of the time). Most cases where incompatibilities are found are pc's built by manufacturers (ie HP) which will only accept specific models of ram. icow (15313)
1360382 2013-11-20 22:38:00 Thanks.

That's a relief as I cuouldn't find the exact match for my new MB and RAM to be built.

1360383 2013-11-20 23:13:00 The list is just what's been tested and confirmed, good to stick to it if you can but not critical. The RAM manufacturers also sometimes have lists on their websites which may include many that the motherboard makers haven't tested. Mainly it's the type and speed that is important. dugimodo (138)
