Ive learnt my lesson, and yes id say some of this was user error too, but being told multiple different stories and making me feel like a naughty kid lost them a customer. Its times like these i realise how little i know and how much us females get walked all over by different people for being the weaker of the species..... no matter how hard i try....... life always seems to come back and bite me... |

Not all of us are like that, I have been a builder, joiner, kitchen installer for 30 years before getting damaged beyond repair and had to give it up now I design kitchens I know what I'm talking about, there are some out there who know nothing but don't blame all of us for the failings of a few. And I have seen some damn stupid advice given on this forum in the past too, so you are wrong not every one in retail is clueless |

| 1338755 | 2013-04-30 20:57:00 | I know a person who bought a Lava Lamp from a Mega Mitre 10 store and after a few years the bulb blew. They went back to the store although a different branch and got a replacement bulb. Took it home and put it in and the lamp only lasted a few minutes before it blew up. The salesperson had sold them the wrong bulb. :) |

Gary is 100% correct however not all staff in a place like Mitre 10 know everything about all the many different items stocked. The good ones will get another staff member if asked something outside their personal field of expertise the bad ones just guess. |

But you actually did the job, not just stand in a shop all day talking about it. And I have seen some damn stupid advice given on this forum in the past too, so you are wrong not every one in retail is clueless Logically that doesn't really follow, some bad advice on this forum doesn't equal lack of bad advice from shop assistants... but I do agree. I have talked to salespeople who were very knowledgeable and helpful. The problem is I could count them probably with one hand. It's just that looking this thread over, it seems there was a heck of a lot more help given here than at the shop. |

And feeding some bogus line to a customer does nothing but harm. Did a qualified small engine mechanic repair it? I doubt it, just some staff member with little mechanical knowledge. Personally I dont think shops should sell what they know nothing about. Each department should have someone who has done the time in the trade and can actually speak from experience and knowledge and actually be able to give sound advice when required imo. |
