| 1339036 | 2013-05-01 06:35:00 | It probably wouldn't matter, Xubuntu is not Ubuntu. Considering Xubuntu is built around Xfce I don't see why they'd switch to Mir if it's not compatible Xfce. How is Xubuntu not Ubuntu? xubuntu-desktop is just a meta packages on top of their base, just like Ubuntu-desktop is a meta packages. This is like saying a Debian/Fedora/OpenSuse Gnome Live CD is and a KDE Live CD is not the same Debian/Fedora/Opensuse because they have a different DE. They are launching Mir to control the ecosystem as much as they can, and it will fail spectacularly. Canonical will not distribute a mixed Mir/Wayland until it backfires on them completely and they are forced to give up on Mir. |
