2013-04-29 10:59:00 | My mower has a Briggs and Stratton engine. Think it has had one oil change since we got it and it starts every time. | QW. (15883) | |
2013-04-29 11:42:00 | A starter motor?? Is it electric start or something? | Iantech (16386) | |
2013-04-29 12:00:00 | no. Its a normal pull cord to start. | beetle (243) | |
2013-04-29 14:25:00 | I know Briggs and Stratton engines pretty well. Cant see how you can bend a starter. Does the rope come out the side horizontal to the ground or is it pulled vertically up? Just curious. | tut (12033) | |
2013-04-29 15:23:00 | the rope mechanism is at the top, flat and pulled to the back top right of the machine. www.mitre10mega.co.nz similar to this, but mine is all black and was not that expensive...... they dont seem to have any like i have on the floor any more....... I dont really understand what was wrong with it.... but i will get more info today when i pick up hopefully. or just a clearer idea of what went wrong?

He will either say you have been misled (bullshitted) or explain exactly what had happened to your mower. Hopefully he will see you right with the oil change, which is an easy job to do. Look up the manual for the mower on the internet. It will be there, and can be printed if you need a hard copy. BTW what were you doing up at 2AM???????? Not worrying about the mower I hope! |

2013-04-30 01:41:00 | Im with Richard on this, because it doesn't all quite add up. Unless its electric start, it wont have a starter motor - and you have confirmed it is a pull start, so you cant have bent anything. The pull pulley is connected to the crank shaft in most cases, and you're not going to bend that unless you hit it incredibly hard in just the right place - even then it is probably more likely to break (along with half the mower) than bend. The stop-start cable is a country mile away from the starter mechanism so for someone to say "the starter motor was bent and cutting off the cable to the stop start lever" is just not right. Someone is trying to baffle you with bullshit, its not possible and it doesn't add up in my opinion. Good luck there Beetle. | Iantech (16386) | |
2013-04-30 02:34:00 | Just adding my agreement - you don't see to have been looked after as a customer Beet. Modern motor-mowers should go for years even with hard use. Yours is barely out of nappies. :D The oil change after one month is standard but I'd be astonished if it is critical. Not the sort of thing to cause a motor to seize although this case sounds as though something has jammed the crankshaft. | Winston001 (3612) | |
