| 1339540 | 2013-05-06 07:22:00 | Best set of handtools (spanners and sockets) I owned have USSR stamped on them. Those under 30 I wager will not remember what USSR stood for :) | coldfront (15814) | ||
| 1339541 | 2013-05-06 10:17:00 | as opposed to the cheapies that just love to rust . I still remember having chrome peal off a spanner & get under my fingernails. That put me off the cheapies and onto the German & US brands Britool still produce excellent tools, now part of the Black and Decker Group, but may I recommend some quality French Tools that used to be and possibly still are distributed by Trade Tools in New Zealand. The FACOM brand are excellent tools - you may not have head of them, but they are recommended by Rolls Royce for Aero Engines - Rolls Royce endorse 3 brands (none of them British), Stahlwille, Snap On and Facom - (Sockets lock on well and don't drop off into the guts on an engine) I have Stahlwille, Britool and Facom set spanners OE and Ring and they are all good.( none of these companies produce budget rubbish) If you are looking for a large UK Merchant of Tools and Engineering Products, I can highly recommend Monks and Crane (www.monks-crane.com), they are a long established company and part of the Thorn Group. Another British Group worthy of Consideration is Neill tools - they make Spear and Jackson and Eclipse Brands amongst others. |
