Plus they also released a 3Ghz chip based on the Prescott and Northwood core. Its not really possiable to answer your question without a lil more info. FX51 is faster than P4 3.0Ghz Prescott 800mhz FSB FX51 is faster than P4 3.0Ghz Northwood 533mhz FSB FX51 is faster than P4 3.0Ghz Northwood 800mhz FSB The FX51 is also cooler than the above P4 processors |

FWIW - the FX51 is the latest AMD, so a comparison against the top end Pentium might be a bit more worthwhile. Tom's Hardware does this. Read about it here (www17.tomshardware.com). They have crowned the P4 3.2 Extreme Edition the winner over the FX51 and AMD64 3200+... Lo. |
