2004-04-22 22:39:00 | Do you have another firewall apart from Windows XP's one? If so, you will need to grant access to Opera. | Susan B (19) | |
2004-04-22 22:42:00 | do you use a proxy? check in internet optoins underconnections if you have anything filled in under proxy. if so copy it accross to opera's proxy setting.

2004-04-23 11:23:00 | No proxy used. Loaded opera onto my win 98 machine ok so no problems there. Turned of xp firewall still no go. I had Norton pack installed with my PC an am unable to access settings to turn internet security off. I dont have a record of password/login used when PC set up. It has expired and now use AVG. Do you know how to access Nortons without the correct windows login code. I have logged in as administrator into xp but no go. I have always just hit enter key at log in to windows but no go. Nortons window expects log on as supervisor to make changes but no luck with that either. | Advocar (1098) | |
2004-04-23 22:01:00 | You want to get rid of Norton and all tiny traces of it, seeing you don't use it anymore and could be causing conflicts. There's been a lot of comments about Norton and conflict at this forum, and also how diff. it is to get rid of it. HTH :) | mark c (247) | |
2004-04-24 03:07:00 | Try uninstalling Norton Internet Security. Thats most likely your problem there, as its blocking opera by default. If you can't access any settings to change it, then theres no point at all in keeping it. If you wanted to reinstall after that, you would get some functionality back :) | KingWave (5517) | |
