231262 2004-04-22 11:12:00 I got a disk with the patches 1.5 and 1.6 for Battlefield 1942 on it, they are .exe files but don't have a program associated with them to open with, anyone know what I should open them with? Thanks. Tribomb (5547)
231263 2004-04-22 11:29:00 If they are .exe, then they should run when you double click on them. godfather (25)
231264 2004-04-22 11:40:00 Yeah, but they dont, if I double click it it will come up with the open with option Tribomb (5547)
231265 2004-04-22 12:21:00 Try dragging them onto your desktop and then double click them. sam m (517)
231266 2004-04-22 12:30:00 Hit something or go searching for shell32.exe or explorer.exe.... If you right click and drag over a program that program will open the file.

You could also try run32.exe or rundll.exe...

I'm sure some of the more windows minded people could help you.

so uh.. *Bump*

231269 2004-04-23 01:03:00 If you have the full version of BF1942 installed then the patches should run automatically after double clicking them.

Try putting your original BF1942 CD in the drive first, or if you use a virtual drive ensure that the image is loaded before starting the .exe patch.

As far as I am aware, the 1.6 patch will update it without going through the 1.5 patch first - it did for me anyway (I didn't have the 1.5 update).

If all else fails, try reinstalling the game, should be in EAGames directory folder on whatever drive you put it on. Or get another copy of the 1.6 patch from the likes of the jetstream games ftp2 server. You can access that at full speed on Jetstart, or if on dial up you still can get files off it, at dial speed though.
