231081 2004-04-22 02:58:00 Hi there

I just have a little problem now with Taxiing the Aircraft to the runway to take off.

I am currently on Student Pilot Lesson Five which is take-off lesson, but first i have to steer the plane onto the runway, on the Cessna plane I have it tells me release the brakes and then set the throttle to 1000rpm.

The problem is that when i release the brakes and set the throttle to 1000 rmp, the plane doesn't move, even after quite a while.

The brake is period key, is that the Full Stop key, the key that's 2 to the right horizontally from the letter M?

Since the plane doesn't move forward at 1000rmp, so I tried to set it to higher, but when i set it to higher the plane start to turn and then kina outa control.

What's the problem?

Am i setting the throttle the wrong way or the brakes the wrong way?

How would i set the throttle, slowly or fast?

Thanks for help

Correct, as long as Shift is not held down when it is pressed. ;-)

231083 2004-04-22 04:14:00 Presume you are working from the Aircraft Handbook page 71 and are set up to use keyboard not a joystick. Period key is as you state but it is both Apply and release brakes, presume there is a cockpit indication that the brakes are applied. The Skylane has a steerable nosewheel using the rudder pedals, presume pedals are central or else the aircraft will try to move in the direction the nosewheel is set and it will act as a brake and result in your problem when you apply higher RPM. With controls gentle application is the rule of thumb until experience is acquired. Grandson is the expert on this program, mine is translating the instructions. FrankS (257)
