Agreed. That's if you can find it (and/or them) but, windows won't let you delete it anyway. That's why Spyder is such a handy little beastie to have around.

Can't remember what but, there was a little alteration you could add via a text editer to index.dat that meant that the index.dat would not fill up with info. It worked for win98, (don't know about any other versions) to help ease paranoia re MS snooping.

AFAIK both index.dat(s) and the registry can hold info on sites visited, emails and links or site pages not visited depending on their method of presentation/activation.

Everyone at some stage of using a computer has visited a porn site out of curiosity with a small minority accidently getting into one . Hell I imagine a large number of people have at some stage rented a "blue" movie to see what they are like lol .

As for the ethics of telling people what is happening on their computer I will generally tell the parents if it is a child (under 16) that has been visiting the sites .

I will also explain to the user about the porn pitfalls with dialers and pop ups etc and the hazards of the old "give us your credit card number to prove your age" scams . I will also give them a couple of "sites" that are at least semi ethical in regards to pop ups and scams as I believe that if they are going to get "curious" then at least they should do it in a relatively safe way .

Porn is a tricky subject and luckily my daughter is still at the eeeeeewwwwwwww yuck stage when she stumbles across something, but in the last year of computer use she has seen more porn at the age of 13 than I had done by the age of 18 . . . . . . . and that includes finding Dad's stash of playboys .
I have had to have the TALK with her though and explain that what she see's online is not real life but is peoples Ideal's presented in pictures/movies . Hell I know if I asked the better half to try out a some of what they put on those sites I would be very cold and lonely sleeping out in the garage .
