You need to tell us that you are an AMD boy. Hence, you have come up with your side of the debate, with no real answers. |

| 231389 | 2004-04-24 04:19:00 | has AMD actually come up with a CPU that is actually 3 . 0ghz or what-not . Because doesnt say AMD 3200 is the equivaleent to a Intel 3 . 2 ghz . I remember about 2 or 3 years ago a piece on the interweb that these dudes overclocked an Intel chip to 3 . 0ghz and it was cooled with liquid nitrogen . It was some northwood chip like 1 . 7 ghz or whatever . Now look at everything, 3 . 2ghz and standard cooling . As for me, we have a AMD Duron 900mhz comp and a Intel Celeron 500mhz . Both have same amount of RAM, but for me, it doesnt really matter any computer what is fast and reliable will do me, i have used a amd 1 . 7 ghz comp and a intel p4 2 . 6 ghz comp for gaming and I dont really care cause anything is a lift from my 900mhz and 500mhz . :) But personally i think i'd stick with AMD as that is what our computers have been, amd k6-2 450mhz and now duron . Just my 2 cents worth |

I was concerned about overheating when looking for a new PC and all my research points to no issue with the later AMD's and Ive never noticed any overheating . |

There is a reason > the Prescott core was refer to as a mini heater all > over the internet . I think it needs to be clarified that it's the Prescott's which are running hottest . The Northwood's don't seem to be afflicted with the same problem and overclock nicely with the standard heatsink . That's something I don't think the AMD can do? (Overclock with the standard AMD fan and heatsink that is . . . ) Lo . |

| 231396 | 2004-04-24 22:43:00 | Well i had my Athlon 1800+ @ 2.2ghz for about 3months on a stock cooler, does that count? The northwoods were hotter than the bartons, but still nothing compared to the prescotts. Oh and yes i am a AMD fanboy but I will give Intel credit where credit is due. Hyperthreading interests me and would love to see how it really affects multitasking in a real world enviroment. If intel was the fastest i would admit it but every benchmark i have ever seen show the AthlonFX 53 as king of the hill. | Pete O'Neil (250) | ||
