231317 2004-04-26 03:26:00 ok i havent had any luck finding anything to suck the poor machines inards,
but have worked out it does read floppies of a different make?????

but my lemon can read both brand floppies no prob?

but to my horror i dont have any Floppies size wise big enough to save the item i want to eventually put on disk......
so i will either have to go back to the shop ....(i was there this morn...grrr) and gets some next size? grade up?

or forget it and make a whole new item on my lemon and hope to reproduce something similar???

so i know i have not killed it by neglect as it still works.....

these things are really not for the system of me i have found frustration city....... why anyone wants more than one of these things is beyond me.....
give me coffee.....:D

231318 2004-04-26 03:52:00 Hi Beetle, I just want to say that you crack me up :-)
In a good way of course, a bit more light-heartedness would go a long way on this forum sometimes....but I digress.

As for your disk problems I think that you will find you can only get the 1 size of floppy disk i.e. 1.44Megs (I know, I know, you can get other sizes but most commonly just 1.44Megs, I havent seen any 512k or 2.8 around for ages).

Alternatively you can zip up the file and then "span" it across multiple disks.

How big is the file that you are trying to put on the disk. Another option is to email it to a hotmail type account and then download it at the computer you are trying to put it on.

Anyway, Im sure your puter is happy that its inards aren't going to get sucked out with an industrial strength vacume cleaner. ;-)

231319 2004-04-27 00:27:00 Beetle, the vacuum cleaner tool you want is called a "nosey parker" which can get into slots or corners, it is usually a standard accessory on any vacuum cleaner, a plastic tube about 200 mm long, one end round that pushes onto the end of your suction hose, the other end rectangular about 40 mm by 12 mm that is offered up to the corner or slot you want to clean. As suggested if you gently lift the floppy drive door with a pencil, then offer up the nosey parker to the door to suck out any dust.
Once had a mouse living in the insulation in the back of a refrigerator and modified a nosey parker with a lenght of plastic tube to remove it's calling cards.

231320 2004-04-27 02:25:00 Visit local PC shop or Warehouse / Warehouse Stationary store and buy a floppy cleaning disk and use that.

The Vacuum cleaner will not remove any "embedded" or "sticky" dust from the drive heads.
