| 231295 | 2004-04-22 22:29:00 | Hi, Bought a Mustek DVD player from Dick Smiths for $89 - good buy, but the sound doesnt seem to be working properly . it is 5 . 1 channel dolby digital . Could someone tell me how the plugs are meant to be set up? The TV has "AV 1 in" and "out", and the video and audio plugs for each (yellow and white) . The DVD player has "Video Out" which i've plugged the yellow cable into the yellow jack; "Audio Out" with "Rear L" and "Front L" they are the only white jacks . Which one do I plug the audio cable into? By "the sound doesnt seem to be working properly" I mean that like in some parts the sound is working, and in some areas there is no sound . Is it the DVD player, or the cables? thanks caffy |

If you have a mono input to the TV (one Audio socket only) you may need to buy a lead that takes 2 RCA to 1 RCA, or an adapter to parallel the leads into the DVD. Otherwise you may still be missing 1 channel. Then you need to go into the setup menu on the DVD player and set audio to 2 channel. Otherwise bits of the sound will indeed be missing. |

Do i have to buy an adapter, that the red and white will plug into the Front R and Front L, and then the other end plugs into the adapter which will plug into the Audio AV 1 in? |

If you took such an adapter, and used it to combine two video signals into a video port (instead of combining stereo audio into mono audio), what would likely happen. I'm not rich enough to risk the damage... ;) Lizard |
