I went to configure printers, and chose the LPR/LPRng Print System, and went to add a printer. The printer is attached directly to the network (Jetdirect card), and has an IP address of 192.168.0.3. I gave this address to knoppix and it went to install drivers, but when I chose the driver from the list, then chose foomatic+postscript it came up with this error: Unable to load the requested driver: Unable to create the Foomatic driver [HP-LaserJet_1300,Postscript]. Either that driver does not exist, or you don't have the required permissions to perform that operation. I checked the HP site and they dont provide drivers for Linux, so I searched google and found a .ppd file for my series printer, but I dont know which file format it should be in to load it as a driver (with the.ppd extension the printer manager thing complains about it being the wrong format. I'm confused now. What do I do? Extremely new to linux! |
