231777 2004-04-24 11:20:00 I've got a real BEE in my bonnet about websites that ask you for comments etc., on their website, services or whatever and provide you with a nice looking reply form. So you spend half an hour writing about what you think, and all you ever hear back from them is an automated response thanking you etc, and then you never hear from them again.
My question: Why do these sites (usually larger, commercial ones) even bother to put the contact on their site if they don't have the wherewithal to attend to the responses they get!
Any thoughts, anyone?

Here are a few thoughts

1. The amount of feedback they get

2. The time that take to reply to every ones e-mail & reply to every thing comment a person makes

That might be some reason why some company don’t get back to you, but some of them have been getting better.

231779 2004-04-25 02:35:00 Do you seriously think that people, particularly large corporates want people to sit there for 30 minutes writing feedback?

Sure they invite comments, but I think they are probably looking for things along the lines of 'link on x page is dead' or 'great site' rather than composed essays about their site.

231780 2004-04-25 03:50:00 I must admit, it is REALLY frustrating. I always end up calling them...

But I know that Microsoft does, and Valve does, though they tend to do it a bit late.... (only a few days to a week).

Then again, there are companies that offer contact details for technical issues, which i fully expect them to have people sitting around writing indepth essays. If you have a problem with their product, and they claim to offer product support, and it says on their site something along the lines of "Please write a detailed description of your product and a representative will reply to you within in 36 hours", then why dont they?
