231763 2004-04-24 10:47:00 Since receiving the free MS Update CD, I keep receiving update notice emails from Microsoft, sometimes, as many as 7 emails a day! Am I the only one receiving it? There isn't any way to 'unsubscribe' this annoying emails. Any suggestions?

Cheers

231764 2004-04-24 10:58:00 Let me tell you that Microsoft will not (in general) send you Email at all.

If you Email them then you just may get a reply.

Make sure your virus checker is up to date.

Delete the Emails.

Don't bother using "unsubscribe" on any Emails you have not in fact subscribed to. It only encourages more spam. They then know it is a live Email address.

231765 2004-04-24 11:11:00 You didn't by chance subscribe to the updates and security info newsletter did you?? Go to microsoft and unsubscribe there if you may have. Also check your system for spyware as this may be the source of the emails. dipstick01 (445)
231766 2004-04-24 11:45:00 Have scanned for spyware and found none. NAV is up-to-date and configured to scan both incoming and outgoing emails. It is coincident that I hardly use this particular email address but I did use it for ordering my free CD!

Maybe I should cancel off this hotmail address. By the way, how do I cancel a hotmail account?

Cheers

231767 2004-04-24 11:52:00 You simply don't use it for 3 months and they close it.

In other news i sent an email to ms asking for "free stuff",they sent me 5 mouse pads :D and 500 pamplets outling the difference in ms office products :O

They burned well.

231769 2004-04-24 12:09:00 Lmao metla.

On a similiar tangent... with the MS update cd, I used a fake name, fake address, fake everything and got it sent to my PO box number. It arrived less than a week later. muahaha.

Could you please explain to me why you thought it was necessary to give microsoft your real name, number and email address? I'm curious.

231770 2004-04-24 12:14:00 I used my internet address for the free CD's and haven't recieved any mail from microsoft at all. dipstick01 (445)
231771 2004-04-24 12:19:00 I contacted MS by way of one of the addreses on this page.

support.microsoft.com

Maybe by following the contact ms link, can't remember exactly,i do know that i tried quite a few before i got a reply back.

I got a bunch of other stuff as well, posters, promotional boxes for XP Home and pro, some feature lists, some other junk.
