2004-04-26 10:29:00 | Hi All:-) Is it safe to buy second-hand PC Co. laptops? Are parts etc readily accessible for these, considering that the PC CO. is no longer??? Anyone familiar with the pentium 4, model no is elite group g732? Or more importantly - what are they worth to date? Thanks....:-)

2004-04-26 10:51:00 | info here (www.ecsusa.com). i have no idea on who brings them into the country tho. you could ask a company that specialises in fixing laptops.

2004-04-26 10:56:00 | They are not "PC Co" Laptops per se, they were only a reseller. They are (I believe) ECS laptops and this brand is still sold currently in NZ. Places like this (www.cresca.co.nz) seem to be a reseller. Perhaps they could advise on the availability of parts.

2004-04-26 11:42:00 | I am totally against this *very strong personal (only!) viewpoint* brand . Like their motherboards, they are usually the cheapest, the least stable, the worst of every factor except price . They're the budgetist of all . I had the priviledge of going to one of the techno shows in Taiwan late last year . You'd be highly suprised how big of a campaign they try to make, theyve got tripled staff nos . , etc . of what HP , etc . have and yet . . . . how many customer? Close to none, most either stand close to wait for friends, etc . Or walk past completely . They have just been on the market for not so long, I'd put them with the Transmeta CPU (yes! such thing exist, some may not have heard of it) My aunt has a computer with top of the line equipment, ram, etc . but an ECS mobo, made it like hell, couldn't even move . This was a P4 1 . 8 that ran about the same speed as my old 100Mhz . All the above are my personal views, I may of made some comments which some people cannot accept . That's fine . However, I insist, I have very strong views about this brand, and that is, never touch them (prevents you from buying ;-)) Lots of English mistakes i know, writing this in a hurry . . . couldn't resist this post . . . got to get back to homework :(

2004-04-26 11:51:00 | Not about to tell you what brand you should be buying, its your preferance after all. But ECS are the largest sellers of motherboards in the world, overtaking ASUS some 5 months ago.Like all manufacters they have their share of not so great releases but their amount of defect boards are only inline with the rest of the manufacteres and comparable to the amount of product made. ECs make boards that have the stability and performance of any of the compettion.Maybe they just need a more "hip" name. No comment on the laptops,User reviews and industry tripe about them is all positive so far.

Oh but I suppose the ex. PC Company and the likes do use them quite often. Well... not too sure about their latest product, but I do know of a few cases where things were running sweet for the first few month, then almost dying towards the anniversary mark. Looks like I should do some research... |

2004-04-26 12:00:00 | To be honest their are some ecs boards i wouldn't touch with a hundred foot stick, they have released some excellent boards and some real dogs. The current line up seems to be all quality.

2004-04-26 12:04:00 | Yea they do seem to be pretty good, the specification side, however, they've always been . The problem I know some people had was with its realiability, stability, quality of build, some solder even fell off! Could you maybe give me a link of some sort regarding ECS overtaking ASUS . At the moment I'm trying not to believe it . But yes, I reckon a name change could be useful (if they wanted my interest anyway) hehe . . . thats one out of a few billion :p
