232120 2004-04-25 22:07:00 Good Morning Cyber Gurus
A spooky thing has developed over the last few days, involving my p.c.
When I dial up to the Internet my pc sends out going mail. Which is strange because I didn't have out going mail.

232121 2004-04-25 22:12:00 What sort of virus software do you have installed and is it up to date? Sounds to me that something nasty is mailing out copies of itself to those in your address book.

If you haven't got an up to date firewll, download avg from http://grisoft.com and run it.

Secondly, do you use a firewall? This should alert you to something trying to use your internet connection to send information. If it is using your mail program, deselect access to the mail program in the firewall and see whether it asks fo access again next time you connect to the net.

Firewalls:

Several free ones out there

Zonealarm
www.zonelabs.com

Kerio
www.kerio.com

Sygate
smb.sygate.com

Or look on recent PCWorld cover disks.

They aren't hard to setup :)
