232309 2004-04-27 00:17:00 My O.S. is XP Pro .
My problem is that when I follow the procedure to embed a photo in a M.S. 2000 Word document the only thing I get on the word document is the frame and the jpegl title.
The proceedure I follow is:-

1. Open the application that contains the information I want to embed, and select the photo.

2. Choose Edit=Copy.

3. Open the document in Word that will contain the embedded object.

4. Place the insertion point where I want to plave the photo and thenI choose Edit=Paste Special to open the Paste Special dialogue box.

5. I then click on Paste and click O.K.

But all I get on the document is a frame (small) and the jpeg identification.

What am I doing wrong?

This is where it is going wrong just do 'Edit > Paste' or 'Ctrl V'

232311 2004-04-27 02:09:00 Or your could try Insert, Picture, From File, browse to the file, select, choose insert and there it is. karent (5222)
232312 2004-04-28 03:39:00 Rob,
I have followed your instruction and as a result iebedded one photo but since, I am back to the previous situation. The small frame and the jpg legend.
I can insert photos using the insert menu but having done that I have been unable to break the links between the source file and the recipient text file . Hence I cannot get a copy of the photos onto CD.

232313 2004-04-28 03:45:00 Karent,
Sure I can insert photos using the insertion menu but my problem with that is that I have not been able to break the links between the source file and the recipient text file which is essential to enable me to put the photos onto a C.D. along with the corresponding text. Hence I wich to embed the photos in the text document without a link to the source file.

232314 2004-04-28 03:52:00 When you insert a photo into your document you can delete the photo file as it is no longer required, the photo is stored in the document itself.
Just look at the file size of your document without the photo, then insert them and save, now look at the file size (it should be a whole lot bigger).
So you can just transfer the document and the photo will be there in it, you do not need to take the photo as a separate file.

Hope that was understandable.

Rob :)

232316 2004-04-28 06:34:00 Hi. Have you checked the help files? This is a direct "quote" from the Word 2002 help file:
"I want the embedded object rather than an icon to appear in my document."
The answer is:
"1. Click the icon.
2. On the Edit menu, point to object name Object (for example, Worksheet Object), and then click Convert.
3. Clear the Display as icon check box."
There might be something similar for Word 2000.

232317 2004-04-28 08:17:00 What happens when you print the document? If it prints correctly you probably have the option to only show picture place holders within the document while composing, editing etc.

Check Tools Menu, Options under the View tab and make sure that the isn't a tick on the item "Picture Place Holders".
