232105 2004-04-25 22:03:00 I run Win 98 2nd ed. with Norton System works 04. Just last week for no reason when I turned my pc on, the "dial up connection box" popped up on startup and won't go away, until I push the cancel box, some 50x, even when I finally get a clear work screen, half way through work it will reappear. I have looked to see if I have any scheduling settings for the internet but it appears to be ok. Please can someone kill my D.U.B. pop-up. Kenny (1287)
232106 2004-04-25 22:17:00 This is just a stab
In I.E
Tools>Internet options>Connections. It might have the option of, Dial whenever a network connection is not present.

232107 2004-04-25 22:39:00 Norton AV v4 has a built in automatic full scan, mine triggers off on a Friday evening at 8 pm. Guessing here, but if your AV is not up to date is it Nortons trying to get updates before a full scan. Lately there has been almost daily updates.
Suggest update, do a full scan, run Adaware and Spybot.

232110 2004-04-26 04:39:00 Have a look in Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options. Under the advanced tab at the bottom under the security section see if "Check for publishers certificate revocation" is ticked. If so untick and see if that makes a difference.

232111 2004-04-26 07:52:00 Second thoughts, do you have a firewall like Zone Alarm ?, suggest check that no settings have been altered. Just had Generic Host trying to go on line and preventing making an Internet connection until No was clicked FrankS (257)
