| 232945 | 2004-04-29 07:04:00 | I have been a very happy customer of a Slingshot dialup plan for about six months now. I have found them to be a cheap and reliable service. Lately I have had a considerable more amount of trouble actaully being able to connect. Either the phone line is busy, or when I do connect, my connection just hangs, and I can neither receive or send imformation. When this happens I have no choice but to disconnect then try to reconnect, only to get a busy line. Has any one else had similar problems of late? Could my computer hanging on the initial connection by a fault with my pc and not my connection. I have updated virus and spyware protection. Thanks for any help. Mantis |

Its always been like this with every ISP, and its understandable that they do not add expensive resources until they are justified. As long as they do not leave it too long, or people migrate to another ISP, and the whole process starts again at that ISP. |

| 232947 | 2004-04-29 12:03:00 | I'm also currently a/an (unhappy) slingshot jetbuster customer. For the past 5 - 6 months that I've been connected with them, I've had a handful of problems ranging from intolerable speed for ADSL connection for two weeks to the most recent of not having a connection at all. Since yesterday morning until now, the indicator LED on my modem keeps on blinking which i believe indicates that it can't establish a connection with the ADSL service line. This morning I went to slingshot's website using XTRA's dial up connection and sent an email to them asking what is wrong with the connection. The automated message mentioned that the email should be replied in 24 hrs, lets just see if they can do that. At times like these, I assure you, you would see the real benefit of having a 24 hr customer service phone line like XTRA. I actually tried calling XTRA's customer service to see if they can check whether there are faults around my area, but they said I have to either call slingshot or wait until they get back to me..fair enough I think. To be honest, I'm quite afraid of calling slingshot, with $2.00 per minute for a call to their customer service, if they drag the call by putting you on hold while the 1 person staff-ed office (exaggeration intended) goes and frantically checks for 15 minutes...they would get half of my montly jetstream fee?! The only reason why I've stayed with slingshot until now is because when trouble free, its the best ADSL connection you can get. Think about it, for $60 per month and no cap on download/upload..its great! but the problems just keep on coming..now I'm on the balance of maybe changing ISP :( |
