| 232922 | 2004-04-29 05:57:00 | Hi there, I have an old Excel file, I'm not sure if it was created in Excel 97 or 2000. Anyway when I try to open it I get "<filename>: File format is not valid" I think it might be because someone opened it in Word once, because I can actually open it in Word and it comes up a a table. However, does anyone know how I can either fix the original file, or convert the Word table into an Excel spreadsheet? When I try I get weird results, I think because it was originally a spreadsheet and has been opened as a table in Word etc etc. I'm just selecting the table in Word and then copying and pasting into a new worksheet. Thanks for your help. |

If not, how the file is opened wouldn't make any difference. How it was saved possibly would. If still having problems which copy-and-paste doesn't satisfy, have a look at www.softinterface.com |
