What mobo do you have? some boards used by brand name PC's such as IBM, compaq,HP etc are fussy when it comes to ram & some boards will use whatever you put in them. Steve Steve |

| 232880 | 2004-05-03 04:52:00 | As has been said it depends on the board and ram,some aren't fussy,and some just refuse. Take out your exsisting ram and try it with just the newly purchased 256mb stick. >he told me that it wont work in the system because the new ram is single sided and the system must need double sided ram, i told him that this sounded like crap. Well,its correct,some boards won't run on single sided ram,You can though get ram of the same basic specs but in a double sided configuration that should work.Single sided sticks are roughly half the price of double sided. |

I've never had any trouble running different SD ram speeds and even brands although I have had to juggle the slots to get the lot detected. As above, proprietary boards are often much fussier than than your average off the shelf variety. Cheers Murray P |

| 232883 | 2004-05-03 06:50:00 | Why not put both 128Mb in your system? ?:| | Miami Steve (2128) | ||
| 232884 | 2004-05-03 06:57:00 | its not my call, the owner of the system only wants an extra 128. the system has 192MB of ram and only win98 on a pIII500, would the extra caost to get 256 be of much use? |

| 232885 | 2004-05-03 07:00:00 | I thought the system was your own. :8} , and no, it probably isn't worth the expense to put any more RAM in a Win 98 machine. Cheers Miami |
