233114 2004-04-30 08:41:00 I constantly keep getting the macromedia flash player install dialogue and say no, is there a way I can remember say no for next time and next? Obviously when going to certain pages only.

I get on fine (view) without it, so why install it?

I have disabled install on demand in IE 6.

Running XP pro.

Cheers if any ideas.

233115 2004-04-30 10:43:00 personlly i would install it as a lot of sites have flash parts to them and some sites are done solely in flash. tweak'e (174)

I don't have flash installed in my main browser because flash ads are fscking annoying and eat a lot of cpu.

THAT is so NOT true!

233119 2004-04-30 11:41:00 I have seen flash load a cpu up to 100 percent, enough to stop the page being rendered, I’ve also seen many complain about it.

Granted this has usually been people’s sigs on message boards and upgrading to the latest flash player largely cured it.

Still, I block it all, and if the page requires it for access then tough, for every page that requires flash there is thousands that don't.

233120 2004-04-30 12:01:00 Yeah I know I could install it, but I don't want to, and I thought this was the place to ask - install it - is not helpfull but it is an opinion .

They are mostly ads and download hungry FX, which I think I can live without . Maybe when I get faster connection I will reconsider .

Cheers all

233121 2004-04-30 12:19:00 My suggestion would be to use firefox.Much less inrtusive when it comes to plug-ins and add-ons.

And you get the added bonus of tabs, extensions, built in pop-up killer...etc etc etc...

233122 2004-04-30 21:14:00 If you haven't found the answer yet why not try this:

In IE go to Tools | Internet Options | Security Tab | Custom Level.

The first 5 items are related to ActiveX. Disable all 5 and then OK out of there.
