2004-04-30 03:48:00 | Hey guys... My mate has just got BF1942: Reload pack. We installed the game but it goes super crap. It's even jiggly on 640x480@75 all settings on low. I don't know how much better the MX440 chipsets are but my battlefield works fine on my GeForce. He's got XP Home, AMDXP2000+, 256MB RAM alongside the MX400. Also its a PC Company computer. *rolls eyes* Could it just be the HP LCD screen? It seems like a pritty high spec LCD screen cos it runs UT without blurring. Cheers. .Hamstar

2004-04-30 05:03:00 | Your GeForce works well? Your GeForce what?? GeForce 4 MX 400, or your GeForce FX 5950??? Basically the MX 400 is the lowest card you'd wanna use to play. If you want better performance, invest a hundred bucks or so in buying a slightly better Graphics Card! The LCD Screen wont be the bottleneck here.... Hope this helps Chill. P.S. I could play it at 800x600 on my GF4 MX 440SE-T at an 'acceptable' fps. Run into battle and it'd get pretty damn jumpy though :-(

2004-04-30 05:19:00 | basically in today's day and age you're looking for something a bit more powerful than the geforce4 mx440. Try the fx series or the ati radeon chips. Most new games won't work on the geforce4 mx440 too. I think far cry and deus ex2 and painkiller or something :) | static reanimated (5575) | |
2004-04-30 05:26:00 | Try turning down the sound quality as well. BF is ram hungry. No matter what they say a gig is good for it. And no. The MX 400 will not be helping the cause at all.

2004-04-30 05:29:00 | I run Battlefield Vietnam on a GeForce 64MB 440MX at work - everything turned down low and 800 x 600 to get a frame rate that is still sluggish. | Biggles (121) | |

I run that same card (Asus version) with an AMD XP2600+ and 384mb PC133 ram and I can get it going ok at 1024x768 with low details, it occasionally skips a frame in intense battles in BF-V but otherwise is ok. If I turn it down to 800x600 I can apply medium textures and it still runs fine. |

2004-04-30 06:25:00 | I just upgraded to an ATI Radeon 9600XT from a GeForce 4 MX 440 and I didn't have any problems running BF1942 @ 1024 x 768.... I would say to get at least another stick of 256 ram though, as I have 768MB ram but the same processor!! But like someone said previously, invest in a decent card that runs DX9 games as you will see a HUGE improvement... | davidb (5576) | |
2004-04-30 07:02:00 | Bear in mind that the sound settings in BF will affect the video quality. If it gets 'choppy', reduce sound quality accordingly till the sweet spot is reached. Heaps of Ram helps immensely too. J :D
